Child Inclusive Mediation (FALL 2026 Course)
Learn how to interview children and bring their authentic voices into the mediation process. Join Dr. Dan Ashbourne and Dr. Kim Harris of NavON for this engaging live online training designed to equip family mediators with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to conduct child interviews and provide non-evaluative feedback to parents in support of mediation.
What You’ll Learn
This comprehensive program combines theory, practical skills, case discussions, and role plays to prepare mediators to confidently incorporate children’s voices into family dispute resolution. Participants will explore:
- Interviewing children using developmentally appropriate, child-centred approaches.
- Providing non-evaluative feedback to parents to support informed decision-making.
- Court-connected child-inclusive mediation programs.
- Cultural safety and culturally responsive practice.
- Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) in child-inclusive practice.
- Community resources and referral pathways.
- Professional standards, accreditation, and emerging best practices in child-inclusive mediation.
Prerequisites
Participants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Hold an AccFM designation; or
- Hold a CPMed designation (if not already AccFM); or
- Have successfully completed: Family Mediation and Family Relations Training; Advanced Family Mediation Training; and, Screening for Family Violence Training

The training will take place virtually on Zoom from 9 AM to 3:30 PM (Lunch Break: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM) on:
- Thursday, October 29
- Friday, October 30
- Monday, November 2
- Tuesday, November 3
